3 Feet Away From Gold by Kerissa Taylor
They say that hard work pays off. That it will be worth it in the end. Keep your eye on the goal. Never give up. Just keep swimming ( the advice of fish is very reliable) … but the people who say these things, do they really understand what they are saying? I mean, have they ever had to really work hard at something they wanted; sacrificed, risked, cried, been frustrated, exhausted, scared, scorned, discouraged?
I'm pretty sure they did, and that is why they said what they said.
This dream of mine and my families, Wovoka Ranch, can be a little overwhelming at times. I wonder if it will actually take off. I wonder if all the time, research, money, and heart that is invested will reap some kind of reward... other than the reward of hard work and effort – good character. Self doubt enters; not being good enough, not educated enough, just a “wanna be”, no one will like what you offer, you won't be successful, just quit while you are a little bit ahead... just get rid of it all and take the easy road...
The easy road.
What is the easy road? Would it just be to live in mediocrity? To not have any of the things that bring me enjoyment and fulfillment on a daily basis? To not raise my children in a lifestyle that I so highly value...What I believe is what they need to be the happy adults I am doing my best to raise them to be?
Yes, hard work does pay off. That is what I want my children to know. I have experienced it, lived it to it's fullest and will continue to do so.
I know that these are all thoughts and feelings that everyone at one point or another experience when they are working toward something … and I know you aren't an exception. What is it in your life that you have dreamed of, desired so strongly that you could taste it,but have been on the verge of giving up because of how hard it can be at times? Did you give up? Would you be willing to try again?
The truth is, what you want IS worth sacrificing for. It's worth saying no to other things, as good and fun as they may be, it's worth putting your whole effort into whatever it is that is at the core of your soul. It's worth everything you have, because it is all you have ever wanted. You will be better because of it, your family will be better, your relationships, your health.... your happiness.
There was a man who was mining for gold. Everything showed that it was a very promising mine, worth more than he could imagine. His team kept digging, and digging... and digging... and digging. The man gave up. He walked away. One of the men that was digging the mine for him decided to acquire it and keep going. 3 feet later, he struck one of the richest gold mines ever in California.
Sometimes dreams take a lot of work, tears, sweat, trial and error – but mostly faith to get through those things. Never give up! You are only 3 feet away from the gold. Then you get to extract it, purify it, shape it and use it to the betterment of you, everyone, and everything around you.
